Patient setup verification software for radiotherapy

In radiotherapy/particle beam therapy, realizing the optimal irradiation conditions determined in the treatment plan during actual treatment has a significant impact on treatment accuracy. However, the patient's position and organ position were not completely same between the planning CT scan and the treatment, so the patient positional verification is much important treatment process.

Our product realizes this "patient positioning software".

Two methods are available: a method that matches two-directional X-ray images acquired in the treatment room with the planning CT (2D-3D registration), and a method that matches CT images acquired in the treatment room with the planning CT (3D-3D registration).

How 2D-3D registration works

DRR images generated from the planning CT are matched with two-directional X-ray images acquired in the treatment room to calculate the patient's positional error (translation + rotation) within seconds. The couch is then automatically corrected to reproduce the planned setup.

Provides reliable treatment throughput improvement

This product has been used in radiotherapy facilities for over 10 years. And it has also been used by Japanese radiotherapy treatment vendors.

For all treatment sites

Not only for areas with many bony structures such as the head, neck and pelvis, but also for the chest and abdomen, which are susceptible to respiratory movements and daily changes. This is based on treatment data of more than 5000 cases and medical staff feedback. Based on this, we have developed a computational algorithm that is fully compatible with clinical practice. This is expected to improve treatment throughput at all treatment sites.

Immediate results

Patient positioning for one case involves several image registration calculations. And we treat dozens of cases a day. Therefore, the treatment throughput cannot be improved without reducing the image registration computation time. By installing a high-speed calculation engine using GPUs and developing an efficient calculation algorithm, our product calculates in seconds.

Clinically optimized UI

In the clinical situation, quick decisions are required. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately present the information required for each treatment process. Furthermore, human error is reduced by providing an intuitive UI that does not require unnecessary operations. Our UI of this product has been used in medical settings for several years and reflects feedback from medical staff.
